July 26th is National Coffee Milkshake Day. Its origins are unknown, but I think we all know it’s a nice excuse to enjoy a cold, creamy coffee milkshake on a hot summer day.
Since we all know about the standard chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla milkshakes, why not do a world tour for a change of pace? Take some coffee drink ideas from around the world and stick it in a milkshake! Play around with your favorite ice cream flavors and see what you feel works best with each of the following coffees from around the world. Here are some recipes to get you started and to enjoy in celebration!
Italian Espresso Milkshake
This one would taste great with vanilla ice cream! Try blending espresso with a drop of lemon extract to add some zing to your buzz.
Vietnamese Coffee Milkshake
Dark coffee ice cubes, sweetened condensed milk, and coconut ice cream blended to perfection. Mmmm.
Mexican Café de Olla
Dark roast fans will love this! This milkshake is dark-roasted coffee, cinnamon and orange extracts blended with vanilla bean ice cream.
Moroccan Coffee Shake
If you’re bold enough to try this one, use coffee with cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg.
Tennessee Coffee Shake
For a boozy bonus, add an ounce each of Irish Cream, coffee liqueur, and whisky to your milkshake. (Just don’t drive after drinking it!)
- 2 cups cold-brewed coffee
- 8 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 2 tbsp chocolate syrup
- 5-6 ice cubes
- Whipped cream
Blend your coffee, ice, ice cream, and chocolate syrup until smooth. If it’s too thick, add some milk to loosen it up. If it’s too thin, add some more ice cream and pulse the blender to smooth it out. Pour into chocolate syrup drizzled milkshake glasses (if you have them) or your desired glass and top with whipped cream and more chocolate syrup (and maybe a cherry on top).
Need some coffee to go with your milkshake recipe? You can either ground or whole bean coffees at our shop or on Amazon! Cool down your summer by sipping, savoring, and enjoying your coffee milkshake!
